Thank you very much guys. Proportions are just on spot – you can clearly see smaller model is like a younger brother to larger one.
I have only a question, how lfgo absorbing work with the real drivertrain? I could have probably made a rear diff work, but it would mean I’d have to sacrifice the rear independent suspension and build a live axle.
To compensate for this I decided to make the suspension smaller in width, so that the total width with tires included would be in scale edit: I tried quite a few suspension setups 885 these lgo wishbones which I felt I needed to use for this tribute and this setup resulted in almost no visible bumpsteer.
You can see in the images that the tie rod attachments are not directly behind the kingpins, but are inboard.
Pego originally wanted to use Click for an animation of the steering in motion. The steering arm itself pivots on upper and lower king pins which fit into sockets in the control arms. The color coded computer image shows the configuration in each gear. This addition results in very smooth turns for this model.
LDD available for download here. A pinion gear attached to the seat can be turned via a crank, driving the seat forward see computer image and animation. Click for an animation of the transmission shifting.

Power is driven through a pair of universal joints on each side. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Also the rear got 885 much needed inforcement to remove the flimsy look of the 10 stud wide suspension. Each pair of opposing cylinders shares a common crank pin.

This was the first Lego 88655 I build when I was about 8 years old. I think the differential – or what goes for a diff – is floating. LDD available for download here Thanks LvdH and Didumos69 for the help on the LDD and the 9L liftarm in front of the model is for dash, supposed to be placed behind the steering wheel A couple of more images: So it felt perfect for my “tribute” to 40 years of Technic.
The tie rods connect to the new steering arms with more ball joints.

I have the original big brother. A pair of longitudinal axles support each seat and allow it to translate forward and back. Otherwise why would there be a lengthwise CV-joint running to the ‘diff’ which is of course not a diff? A custom V4 engine worked best instead of the standard Lego engine parts, because I could mount the exhausts better llego have the transparent red in the centre of the engine 4L lightsaber where the original had 1×2 transparent red bricks.
Very nice little tribute. Thanks guys for the compliments.
An assembly of plates and beams forms the hub which pivots on longitudinal axles. I love how you got all the original features in.
A pair of vertical two blade rotor parts are used to support the four bar linkage.
